Medisson Diplomata — scene shot in Malawi, from the “Africa Girl” music video

Medisson Diplomata

Mozambican singer from the district of Milange, on the Malawi border. “Africa Girl” is his debut — first song and first music video.

Who he is

Medisson Diplomata is a singer living in the district of Milange, Mozambique, a region bordering Malawi. He is the newest artist in Projeto Afro — and “Africa Girl” marks his debut: the first song he records and the first music video he takes part in.

The story of how he got here begins on Facebook. Medisson saw a post by Leo Maverick about his tropical reggaeton work — the song “Navegar” — and decided to write. The conversation never stopped: it became a friendship, and it has lasted years. That influence is what led him to start singing.

What was an exchange of messages between Brazil and Mozambique became a work. Medisson recorded his vocals for “Africa Girl” at Impala Beats studio, in Milange itself, and sent the files to the production team in Brazil. The vocals are recorded and already part of the track.

The “Diplomata” in his artist name came from Leo Maverick — he is the one who named his Mozambican partner that way.

This is the kind of encounter Projeto Afro exists to record: not an African influence quoted from afar, but an African artist inside the music, with a name, credit and a page of his own.

In Projeto Afro

On “Africa Girl”, Medisson signs the vocals recorded in Mozambique. The music video was filmed in Blantyre, Malawi — close to home — with Leo Maverick’s and Kadyn’s scenes shot in Brazil. Out 18 September 2026 via ONErpm.
