The project on one page
Projeto Afro is a cultural exchange initiative between Brazilian and African artists, produced by the audiovisual company Amazonia Beats, of Brasília, Brazil. It joins music and film to build direct collaboration — not distant reference — between Latin urban music and African music.
The initiative brings together Leo Maverick (singer, songwriter and film director), Kadyn (singer, producer and sound engineer, one of the originators of rap DF) and Medisson Diplomata (singer, from Milange, Mozambique). Intercultural direction is led by Ismael Duarte.
After years of work aimed at the Latin market — with a catalogue of reggaeton, rap and trap in Portuguese, Spanish and English — the Brazilian artists are directing production and outreach towards the African continent.
The company has been active since 2010 (registered in 2012), has more than 18 audiovisual works filed with ANCINE, has kept its own studio since 2023, and has already produced work with foreign artists — among them Bolivians Yeyel and Jam Caribe. See the company profile and filmography →
Goals

Current status
The project’s first work is “Africa Girl”, an afrobeat track with the three artists. Medisson Diplomata’s vocals were recorded at Impala Beats studio in Milange, Mozambique; production is Brazilian. The track is finished and in digital distribution through ONErpm, out 18 September 2026.
The music video was shot in Malawi and in Águas Claras, Brasília, directed by Mael Duarte. Frames from the video are published in the gallery.
“Africa Girl” also marks the debut of Medisson Diplomata as an artist — first song and first music video.
