Projeto Afro

About the project

Projeto Afro is a cultural exchange initiative produced by Amazonia Beats, an independent audiovisual production company based in Brasília, Brazil. It connects Latin urban music and African music through direct collaboration between artists — shared authorship and credit, not distant influence.

The initiative brings together Leo Maverick (singer, songwriter and film director), Kadyn (singer, producer and sound engineer, one of the originators of Brasília’s rap DF scene) and Medisson Diplomata (singer, from Milange, Mozambique).

After years of work focused on the Latin market — with a catalogue spanning reggaeton, rap and trap in Portuguese, Spanish and English — the Brazilian artists are now directing both production and outreach towards the African continent: Mozambique, Nigeria, Malawi and beyond.

First release: “Africa Girl”

“Africa Girl” is the project’s first work: an afrobeat track featuring all three artists. Medisson Diplomata recorded his vocals at Impala Beats studio in Milange, Mozambique, and sent the files to Brazil, where the track was produced. It is also his debut — first song and first music video.

The music video is to be filmed in Malawi, with the Brazilian scenes shot in Águas Claras, Brasília. Direction by Leo Maverick.

Goals
